This course aims to provide students with:
- practical skills in the construction and maintenance of computer networks
- access to an international qualification – Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- access to nationally recognized VET Qualifications
Acquiring these skills will enhance students’ employment opportunities and pathways to further education.
On successful completion of this course students will achieve:
Certificates in IT at level III
Partial Completion: 10 out of 12 units for VET in Schools
Full Completion: Full 12 units for a full Certificate
Students will be eligible to gain credit towards National Training qualifications such as those listed above. Results can be claimed towards a Tertiary Entrance Score if necessary where applicable; that is, when a second assessment option is selected.
Career opportunities/vocational outcomes: Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:
- Network technician
- Service technician
- Network support
- Network operations support
Articulation: With a ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology qualification a student may qualify for an improved position in higher Information Technology courses at Certificate IV.
Further education: Certificate IV in Information Technology, Diploma in Information Technology

This course will be delivered over two years at Ringwood Training on Wednesdays.
1st Year – 12 – 3pm
2nd Year – 3 – 6pm
Post School
This program is delivered over a period of1-2 years depending on time commitment and effort .
Classes operate on the following days and times 45 weeks per year:
Monday 9:30am to 7pm | 9.5 hrs |
Tuesday 10am to 8:30pm | 10.5 hrs |
Wednesday 12 noon to 8:30 pm | 8.5 hrs |
Thursday 10am to 7 pm | 9 hrs |
Total | 37.5 hrs |
Students can attend any and every session and work according to other commitments such as employment or family arrangements.
There are no essential entry requirements for this course. However, learners are best equipped to achieve vocational outcomes of this course if they have a passion for Information Technology and networking including network security.
