RT delivers MEM30305 Certificate III in Engineering Fabrication Trade apprenticeship training. Apprenticeships and Traineeships involve a training contract between an employer and an employee in which the apprentice or trainee learns the skills needed for a particular occupation or trade. An apprenticeship or traineeship can be undertaken on a full-time, part-time or school-based basis.
RT’s Engineering facility is purpose built with training state of the art equipment including Fronius welders, a Trumpf Laser Cutter and Bender and Marand robots.
RT has a strong relationship with local employers, industry and Australian Apprenticeship Centres.
VET in VCE & VCAL
The Certificate II 22470VIC Engineering Studies VET in VCE & VCAL program is suitable for students who have an interest in knowing more about the engineering and manufacturing industry and who like to learn by doing.
VET Engineering is not just for students who want an engineering career. Skills and knowledge gained in Engineering Studies are complementary to a broad range of VCE and VCAL programs, and an excellent foundation for traineeships, apprenticeships, TAFE and University courses of study.
This program is ideal for students who want to move on to an apprenticeship in Engineering. The course provides students with a broad knowledge of modern engineering in an innovative facility which incorporates the specific fields including welding, fitting and turning, sheet metal, fabrication, programming and machine operation. Many of our VET in Schools students continue on to employment as apprentices, undertaking their Certificate III training with us.
MEM20105 Certificate II Engineering can be undertaken as an SBAT.
The School based Apprenticeship and Traineeship program has three components – School (VCE or VCAL), Training (RSC as the RTO/Registered Training Organisation) and Work (employment as a School based Apprentice or Trainee).
Interested students need to work with their home school to ensure that the school is supportive of the SBAT part time arrangements.
Over the two-year program at RT, students will acquire the necessary skills and working knowledge of engineering in purpose built surroundings – a state of the art engineering workplace. Project planning and organisational skills will be developed and exercised. This extensively equipped facility houses two industrial robots, a CNC laser cutter, welding bays, a CNC press brake, lathes and milling machines. The dedicated programming lab enables CAD drafting and 3D modelling.
The course provides a springboard for careers in the new and emerging ‘high tech’ engineering industry.
